Procedures and Policies (1)
Hours
Classes start at 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. sharp! The front door will open 5 minutes before the beginning
of class. Please do not bring your children more than 5 minutes early. The school cannot be responsible
for children dropped off before the start of classes.
School ends at 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Your child must be picked up on time. If lateness extends beyond
10 minutes, OR is regular, a late fee of $5 will be charged with an additional $1 per minute thereafter.
In the event of an emergency, please call the school.
Drop Off / Pick-Up / Release
Sign in sheets will be located near the individual classroom doors. Parents, guardians, or designated adults
must sign the children in when they are dropped off and out when they are picked up.
School-age siblings may not escort children in, and teachers will not release their brothers or sisters to them.
Each parent/guardian is required to fill out the names and phone numbers of any person(s) authorized to pick up
your child and their relationship to your child on your yellow Emergency Contact form. Any changes to this list
must be submitted to the office in writing. If there are special instructions regarding custody, etc., please
notify the office. A note must be sent any time that someone who is not listed on this card will be picking
up your child. If there is an emergency, please call the school.
Parking
- When dropping off or picking up your child, please park in the spaces in the front or side of the church.
- You may not park in the drive through area, as this blocks the front sidewalk and flow of traffic
through the fire lane.
- As the children cross the back parking lot when going to and from the play area, the back parking lot
is closed during school hours.
- For the safety of your children, please have them walk with you in the parking lot.
Children may NOT run and play in the parking lot before or after preschool.
- Please make these policies known to any family or friends picking up your child.
Security
For the security of your children, the doors to Heritage will be locked until 5 minutes before drop off
and pick up times. If you are coming to the school at any other time, please ring the buzzer located
on the front door and someone will come to open the door for you. Please check in at the office.
Discipline Procedure
We feel that a positive approach is the key to positive behavior. Encouragement and positive reinforcement
is the method that we use in the classroom and with the individual student. In the event that a child behaves
inappropriately, our first step is to distract them by getting them interested in another activity. If that
were not successful, we would remove the child from the activity. This allows the child the time needed to
think through what they have done and to find a solution to stop the behavior.
All discipline is administered with love and concern. We do not want students to think of school as a place
of punishment, but where order is present, and obedience is necessary for the good of all. Our goal is to
teach the children self-control, as well as respect for the teachers and their classmates.
If the child is having frequent difficulties, the teacher will notify the parent orally. If a problem continues,
the parents will be asked to come in for a conference. We are interested in working with the parents and children
to find workable solutions.
Health Policy
A "Health Appraisal Form" must be completed and immunizations must be up to date by the start of school.
This must be updated yearly. Please notify us at the time of enrollment if there are any dietary restrictions
or allergies (including food sensitivities).
Heritage Preschool sick policy:
- Sick children should be kept at home for their own benefit and as a courtesy to their classmates.
